Prof Oriel Thekisoe has a PhD in veterinary science from Gifu University, Japan. He is currently an animal parasitology and zoonosis professor at the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at North-West University. His research focus is on molecular diagnostics, epidemiology and therapeutics of vectors and vector-borne parasitic and zoonotic diseases. Recently, he has been also been conducting research on "One Health" related zoonotic bacteria which are infecting animals and contaminating the environment (manure and water) as well as antibiotic resistance.
