- Assistant Professor of Geology and Environmental Change, Northwest Missouri State University
I am currently an assistant professor (paleontology and environmental change) in the Department of Natural Sciences (since 2023: https://www.nwmissouri.edu/naturalsciences/directory/oadojoh.htm).
I was previously a visiting assistant professor with the Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences (EEPS) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) (2021-2023), and an adjunct professor and research associate in the Department of Agriculture and Environmental science at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri (2020-2021). Prior to that, I was post-doctoral research fellow at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) from 2017 to 2019.
I obtained a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences (Paleoclimate, Paleobiology, and Sedimentary Systems) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom (awarded in 2017); M.Sc. degree in Petroleum Geology (Micropaleontology and Sedimentology) from the University of Benin, Nigeria; and B.Tech. degree in applied Geology (Environmental Geology) from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Nigeria. In addition, I have a Diploma Certificate in higher education teaching and learning from the University of Plymouth, U.K.
Professionally, I am a Cenozoic geoscientist / environmentalist with an interdisciplinary academic research training that cuts across different continents (N. America, Africa, and UK-Europe). I use sedimentary marine and lake cores / outcrops, applied microfossils / ecological data, landscape data, elemental geochemistry, community surface dynamics modeling system (CSDMS), applied GIS tools, and empirical data to study terrestrial, marine wetland / mangrove, and lake sedimentary records (e.g., ocean/lake level change, river discharge, ecosystem dynamics, and climate patterns).
