Interested in conversations about anything except politics...
Dr Omid Zabihi is a materials scientist with expertise in sustainable polymers and plastics, recycling technologies, structural composites, carbon fibre technologies, polymer processing, and advanced materials characterisation. He has a strong track record of translating fundamental materials chemistry into engineering solutions relevant to the circular economy, lightweight structures, and sustainable manufacturing. He is experienced in multidisciplinary collaboration across academia and industry, publishing in high-impact journals, research supervision, and the development of externally engaged research programs.
His research sits at the intersection of science and society. He is interested not only in how materials behave, but also in how they shape industries, economies and daily life. A key part of his work is exploring practical solutions for reducing materials waste and improving their circularity.
Beyond the lab, He have a strong interest in history and social issues, particularly in how scientific advances connect with broader communities. He is passionate about bridging the gap between materials science and the public, translating complex ideas into real world impact, and helping people better understand the role materials play in building a more sustainable future.
