I am Director of the Strategic Technologies Program with the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. I previously spent over a decade in the Australian Public Service, including leading data science and AI strategy in the Department of Home Affairs and various national security and foreign policy roles in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Attorney-General's Department.

I was a Fulbright Scholar with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Thawley Scholar with the Lowy Institute, and a Fellow with the Centre for the Governance of AI. I was also formerly a Director in the National Security College at the Australian National University.
