Dr. Nuurrianti Jalli is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice at the School of Media and Strategic Communications, Oklahoma State University and a Visiting Fellow in the Media, Technology, and Society Programme, ISEAS Yusof Ishak, Singapore. She has previously served on the faculty at several institutions across the United States, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
She holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Ohio University and brings over 15 years of experience in strategic communication. Beyond academia, she has served as a communication strategist, resource person, and subject-matter expert for organizations including the Prime Minister’s Office of Malaysia, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Malaysia), the United Nations, UNESCO, ByteDance (TikTok), Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, and the Brookings Institution.
Her research and commentary explore the intersections of media, technology, and democracy, particularly propaganda, misinformation, media and tech policy, and media and information literacy with a regional focus on Southeast Asia.
Dr. Jalli’s work has appeared in outlets such as Reuters, The Conversation, Oxford Reuters Institute of Journalism, Newsweek, The Jakarta Post, South China Morning Post, and Channel News Asia, among others.
