- Dentist and Associate Professor in the Department of Dentistry, University of Copenhagen
My research is primarily within pediatric dentistry and clinical genetics, with special interest in children and young adults with special needs (with origin in social or physical conditions, both congenital or acquired). Often my research is facilitated by the latest technological possibilities in medical imaging (scanners; image analysis).
My goal is to contribute to the implementation and improvement of health authorites’ policies to provide equal opportunities for all children and young adults in terms of oral health, including those with special needs. This is sought accomplished through a better understanding of the nature and cause of a particular disorder, and by studying the effect of and interactions between different clinical interventions, ultimately contributing to paradigm shifts for improved national and international clinical guidelines.
My research has thus a triad approach, focusing on i) origin, ii) cause, and iii) effect of different clinical interventions and the interaction between them.
