Nina Kalwa has been a research associate at the Research Center for Science Communication at the University of Tübingen since October 1, 2025, working on project Ö of the Collaborative Research Center 1718 "Common Ground." She has also been a private lecturer at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology since 2024, having completed her habilitation in 2023 with a dissertation on linguistic science studies at the Technical University of Darmstadt. Her linguistic research profile is characterized by a culture-oriented focus. Her research interests relate to the semiotic, especially linguistic, constitution of knowledge and identity. In this context, she has recently focused on scientific cultures and language, the influence of text-generating AI on human communication, and the discursive production of knowledge via so-called artificial intelligence. Her work on linguistic science studies was supported by a one-year junior fellowship at the Alfried Krupp Kolleg in Greifswald. Nina Kalwa is a co-applicant in the BMFTR project KoKoKom , which deals with shared knowledge and polarization in scientific discourse. She is responsible for the research focus "Artificial Intelligence" at the German Society for Applied Linguistics and initiated the online colloquium Artificial Friday .
