- Researcher in Jazz and Visual Culture, Birmingham City University
I am a researcher of jazz and visual culture in the School of Media at Birmingham City University. I also teach a Jazz Enterprise course at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music.
I am currently researching and writing my first book, on jazz and screen modernism. A frequent invited speaker at the National Jazz Archive, I have also lectured at the British Music Experience museum in the O2 arena and given the keynote address at the Jazz and Cinema conference 2013 at Cardiff University. In 2014, I co-organised the New Jazz Conceptions: History, Theory, Practice conference and curated the Jazzprojector screening season at The Vortex Jazz Club.
