Nicholas John Paul Owens

Nicholas Owens is director of the Scottish Association for Marine Science and vice principal for Research and Innovation at the University of the Highlands and Islands, and a former Director of the British Antarctic Survey and the Plymouth Marine Laboratory.

He is a professor of marine science with considerable experience of leadership of complex organisations engaged in research, commercial income generation and education in environmental science. He has led transformational change programmes in the public sector, including the introduction of new funding models, staff restructuring and cultural change.
