- Professor of River Science and Climate Resilience, University of Salford
My areas of research are with hydromorphology which is the way in which water interacts within its natural landscape. This includes the way that sediment is transported and the variation in dynamics, the holistic view of water flow within a rivers catchment and the connectivity between upstream and downstream. I am dedicated to restoring river dynamics and floodplain connectivity to enhance ecohydraulics and flood resilience through collaborations with industry, government agencies, regional River/wildlife Trusts along with national and European River Restoration Centers. I helped to pioneer project monitoring as an integral part of river restoration and management projects to investigate river response and do much of this work through innovative remote sensing methods including drones.
