Ned Curthoys is an associate professor in English and Literary Studies at the University of Western Australia. His research interests include historical fiction, the Bildungsroman or coming of age narrative, and the work of Hannah Arendt. He is an associate editor of the journal Arendt Studies.

With Isabelle Hesse he is the co-editor of Literary Representations of the Palestine/Israel Conflict After the Second Intifada (Edinburgh University Press, 2022)

More recently he has published The Bildungsroman in a Genocidal Age, a study of the adaptation of the influential genre of the Bildungsroman for the purposes of historical fiction.
