I am Professor of Anticolonial and Decolonial Politics and Praxes and Deputy Director of the Decolonising Arts Institute, University of the Arts London. I was previously Professor of Political Sociology and Development Studies (2019-2024) and Deputy Director of the SOAS South Asia Institute (2014-2019). Prior to that I was a lecturer in Development Studies and then Sociology at the University of Manchester, visiting chair at the School of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney. My research has focused on 'development' and the inheritances of institutions complicit in perpetuating hegemonies, ongoing violences, inequalities, extractive practices and skewed global power relations.
