Navid Constantinou

(he/him)

Navid is an oceanographer and an academic. He grew up in Lefkosia and then headed off to Greece to study Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Got a Ph.D. in March 2015; his Ph.D. research revolved around atmospheric dynamics and flows on planetary atmospheres. From September 2015 until April 2018, he was a NOAA Climate & Global Change postdoctoral fellow at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego studying flows beneath the ocean’s surface, focussing on dynamical processes that are at play in the ocean. Since May 2018, he moved down under: first at the Australian National University as a Research Fellow (2018-2021) and then a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award Research Fellow (2021-2024) working on ocean eddy parameterisations and also heavily involved in ocean and climate model development. Since June 2024 he is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Melbourne as a Senior Lecturer.

Besides research Navid enjoys surfing 🏄🏽, biking 🚲, horse riding 🐎, dancing 💃🏼, and photography 📷. He also likes telling stories (science-related or not) and he's an avid story listener.
