I am a professor of Educational Policy Studies (currently also department chair) in the #1-ranked School of Education in the US (according to U.S. News & World Report...for what that is worth =), at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am also Director of the Development Studies Program and on the Executive Committee of the African Studies Program and the Global Health Institute. I am an ethnographer of education and have conducted research for over 28 years on international development policies and practices in Malawi. I have published in the top comparative education journals, published a book (on US sex education) with the University of Chicago Press, and have received support for my research from the Spencer Foundation, WT Grant Foundation, Fulbright, and Lumina Foundation among others.
