- Resident Advisor, Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme, Ahmadu Bello University
As the Resident Advisor of the Nigeria FELTP, I coordinate the training of Field Epidemiologists in Nigeria as a staff of African Field Epidemiology Network and supported by US CDC.
I obtained my bachelor degree from ABU in 2002. I commenced postgraduate training in Medical Microbiology at the ABU Teaching Hospital in 2007 and became a Senior Registrar in 2009. I joined the Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme (NFELTP) as a resident in 2011. And as an NFELTP resident I was involved in Lassa fever and hepatitis outbreak investigation and epidemiologic surveys. I returned to the teaching Hospital in 2013.
NFELTP is a special training programme modelled after the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) programme. It is run as a collaboration between the US CDC, ABU, University of Ibadan, Federal Ministry of Health, and African Field Epidemiology Network and combines field training with a masters in public health, awarded by ABU and UI. I am also Associate Editor at Annals of Nigerian Medicine.
