Prof Moses B. Khanyile currently serves as the Associate Professor in the Department of Political Sciences. He is the former Director of the Centre for Military Science (CEMIS) which is part of the Faculty of Military Science of Stellenbosch University. His qualifications include PhD (Pretoria University), MA, LLM (cum laude)8 (Stellenbosch University) and MBL (UNISA). He is also a qualified Chartered Director in South Africa from the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA). He has served in various capacities within the Department of Defence (DOD), including as a member of the Defence Review Committee that wrote the Defence Review 2015. He has sat in various boards including that of Armscor SOC where he presided as chairman of the award-winning Audit & Risk Committee, and the chairman of the Social Ethics and Human Resources Committee. He was previously employed as an executive at Barclays Africa Bank.
His research interests include defence policy; defence industry dynamics; and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the military space.
