Morten Bøås is Research Professor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). He has conducted research on African conflict and insurgencies for more than two decades, particularly in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, DR Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Uganda. He is the author of numerous articles, and his books most recent books include Sahel - the Perfect Storm (2025) and Doing Fieldwork in Areas of International Intervention: a Guide to Research in Violent and Closed Contexts (2020, with Berit Bliesemann de Guevara)
