Morgan Raven, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the University of California Santa Barbara whose research focuses on understanding changes in the carbon cycle on both human and geological timescales. Doing that requires understanding how carbon, sulfur, oxygen, nutrients, and metals interact in the environment. Her NOISE Lab at UCSB seeks to understand the mechanisms that have preserved organic carbon in anoxic sediments throughout Earth history, and applies insights from those processes to investigate potential technologies for climate mitigation through net-negative CO2 removal.
