Monika Stankiewicz is a PhD Candidate in the Andy Thomas Centre for Space Resources at Adelaide University. Her research focuses on the design of repairable regolith architecture for the Moon using local resources to keep astronauts safe from micro-meteorite strikes. With over a decade of interdisciplinary experience spanning space, architecture, medical and materials manufacturing industries, she takes the lessons learnt forwards to provide a fresh perspective. In 2025, she was awarded a South Australian Fulbright Scholarship and is currently located in San Antonio until January '27 when she will return to Adelaide, Australia to finish her PhD.
