Monica Montserrat Degen

Dr Degen is Professor in Urban Studies at Brunel University of London. She has worked on international research projects with architects, local councils, museum curators, neighbourhood associations and the general public to research the politics of urban regeneration from Doha (Qatar) to Cologne, Barcelona and London. She is particularly interested in the role sensory experiences play in framing architectural practices, urban planning, everyday life and culture in cities. In recent years her work has examined how digital technologies are transforming the design and experience of cities featured in her latest book ‘The New Urban Aesthetic: Digital Experiences of Urban Change’ co-authored with Gillian Rose (Bloomsbury, 2022).
