- Senior Lecturer in African Studies and International Development, University of Edinburgh
I am a geographer by training. I have a PhD in geography from Trinity College Dublin. I am currently a lecturer in African studies and international development at the Centre of African Studies, University of Edinburgh. I am also a research associate at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford and the School of Tourism and Hospitality, University of Johannesburg.
My research is concerned with the impacts of globalisation and technology on development. Specifically, I am interested in examining the impacts of the digital economy, e.g. the gig economy, artificial intelligence and machine learning systems and outsourced services industry, on labour, labour markets and social movements on the African continent.
