Mneesha Gellman

I am an Associate Professor of Political Science in Emerson College's Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies. I do research on violence, human rights, and cultural resurgence for different groups, especially Indigenous and minority populations in the US and the Global South.

As a Latin Americanist, I focus on human security and flourishing, and its obstacles, for many identities, including women and girls in Mexico and El Salvador. Based on scholarship on democratization and numerous forms of violence, I serve as an expert witness in asylum cases in US immigration courts.

I am also the founder and director of the Emerson Prison Initiative, which brings a BA pathway into state prisons in Massachusetts.
