Miriam is a Senior Lecturer in Geography and Planning and Co-Director of the Housing and Urban Research Centre at Macquarie University. Her work is at the international forefront of urban care research, focusing on how urban life can be made more just and caring for people and planet through attention to everyday practices, infrastructures and governance of care. Miriam collaborates on partner-engaged projects that connect research with real-world change, including an ARC Linkage with the NSW Government on The Power of Public Spaces to connect community and place. She is Associate Editor of Geographical Research and a member of the International Community Economies Institute. Miriam is currently co-authoring Cities that care (University of Minnesota Press) and works across projects on care-informed spatial planning and food insecurity. As an experienced educator and speaker, Miriam is passionate about communicating research to diverse audiences.
