Miranda is a system safety specialist currently working as a lecturer in aviation safety at Griffith University. Her main areas of research expertise are accident analysis and system safety, transport safety, safety management systems, human factors, emergency management and defence.
Miranda has over 8 years of experience applying system safety and human factors principles in a range of transport systems at national regulators, e.g. Transport Safety Victoria, international regulatory agencies, e.g. International Civil Aviation Organisation, and multinational defence organisations, e.g. NATO C2 Centre of Excellence. She has conducted a wide range of applied research at TNO Defence, Safety and Security (the Netherlands), Monash University and Griffith University.
Her formal training is in human factors and ergonomics. Miranda's PhD focussed on developing, applying and evaluating a method to evaluate performance and safety of current road transport systems and predict performance and safety of future road transport systems based on understanding of the interaction of environment, infrastructure, road users and vehicles.
