Dr. Mimi Tsai is a Lecturer in Educator Development and Recognition at the Academy of Learning and Teaching, Queensland University of Technology. She is a Senior Fellow and Associate Fellow (Indigenous) of the Higher Education Academy. In this capacity, Mimi co-leads university-wide workshops aimed at upskilling academic communities. Her research focuses on the scholarship of learning and teaching, employing evidence-based strategies to enhance the quality of learning design, teaching practices, and the student experience. She also promotes ongoing reflection and evaluation of learning design and teaching methods. With a background in learning design and digital communication, her research explores the interaction between learning design and students' experiences, investigating how innovative educational strategies can improve student engagement and outcomes. Her recent research examines the use of generative AI by students learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) in higher education.
