A/Prof Milad Haghani is a Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne, and the Geospatial Transport Planning Lead at the Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration (CSDILA). He is a former Australian Research Council DECRA Fellow (2021-2024) and recipient of Research Excellence awards.

Through his research, he generates the science on mitigating the risk of preventable death and injury in urban settings. He is an interdisciplinary researcher with expertise in public safety, road safety, disaster resilience and urban mobility. His research integrates behavioural sciences with analytical modelling methods. Haghani has authored over 120 scholarly publications and has been published in prestigious outlets such as Science and Nature. He frequently contributes analyses and opinion pieces to national and international media. He is committed to making sure that scholarly safety science is made accessible to broader communities and is translated to safety outcomes and improved wellbeing.
