Mija Ververs completed her studies of Nutrition (1985), Medicine (1991) in The Netherlands, and obtained an MPH (1997) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She joined the Center for Humanitarian Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and is also a visiting Health Scientist at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Mija has over 35 years of experience and worked with more than 15 organisations varying from international NGOs (e.g. Doctors Without Borders, Action Contre la Faim, Save the Children), International Committee of the Red Cross, IFRC, United Nations (WHO, UNHCR, UNICEF, Global Nutrition Cluster), Governments and Academic institutions. Her field of expertise lies in nutrition (malnutrition, case management/infectious diseases, micronutrient deficiencies, MCH), and public health. She worked in humanitarian settings in over 25 countries affected by conflict or natural disasters.
