Dr Mignonne Breier is currently Honorary Research Associate in the School of Education, University of Cape Town. She was Researcher Development Specialist in the Research Office, UCT, from 2016 to 2019 and Research Development Manager from 2009 to 2016. Before joining UCT Research Office, she was a researcher in higher education at the Human Sciences Research Council and the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (formerly the Education Policy Unit) at the University of the Western Cape. She has published extensively on adult literacy, recognition of prior learning, professional education (mainly medicine, nursing and teaching), student drop out, student poverty and researcher development. She conducts historical research in the Eastern Cape in her spare time. For this work she was a fellow of the Stellenbosch Institute of Advanced Study (STIAS) in 2018. She has a PhD and MPhil in Education from UCT and a B Journ from Rhodes.
