I completed a Bachelors in Veterinary Biology (BSc) in 2009, followed by a Bachelors in Veterinary Science (BVSc) in 2012, at the University of Pretoria, in South Africa. I was then given the opportunity to pursue a PhD on the impacts of air pollution in wild birds at the University of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada, which I completed at the end of 2017. I then spent the next five years working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, in Durban, South Africa, with the South African Co-Chair and Technical Support Unit of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group II, providing support to the TSU, while conducting research into a range of topics, including language and authorship imbalances in the climate change literature, as well as work on adaptation in African cities. In 2024, I was appointed as a senior research scientist in the Sustainable and Healthy Food Systems - Southern Africa (SHEFS-SA) project, based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and I have been working in that role since.
