Associate Professor Michelle Lupton leads the Neurogenetics and Dementia Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer, a leading Medical Research Institute in Brisbane. Her expertise spans genetic association studies, neuroimaging genetics, and risk prediction. She also contributes to major international genetics consortia. Her research focuses on clarifying the early biological effects of Alzheimer’s disease genetic risk, and identifying prodromal biomarkers and causal risk factors. She leads the Prospective Imaging Study of Aging (PISA) and R-FIRE (Rural Firefighter Investigation of Risk & Exposure): Brain Health cohort studies and works closely with national cohorts and the Australian Dementia Network (ADNeT) to enhance participant screening for clinical trials.
