Dr Michelle Fernando is an Associate Professor specialising in family law and children’s rights. Her research focusses on the voices of children in family law disputes, including in cases involving international child abduction. Her work has been cited in cases, relied on in government reports, and has been published in eminent Australian and international journals. Michelle is the lead author of Family Law in Australia (11th Ed, LexisNexis 2025) and Associate Managing Editor of Australian Journal of Family Law.
