Michele d'Errico

(He/Him)

Michele d'Errico is a PhD researcher in the Department of Sociology, within the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin. He is also a member of the Centre for Sociology of Humans and Machines (SOHAM).

His doctoral research, funded by the Irish Research Council, aims to realistically and empathetically characterize how individuals come to believe in conspiracy theories, focusing on how misperceptions about science, institutions, and economic systems, together with culturally acquired beliefs, make conspiratorial narratives feel plausible.

Before joining Trinity, he studied Philosophy at the University of Bologna and later moved into data analytics. Michele d'Errico has interests in the cultural evolution of belief systems, conspiracy theories and disinformation, generative AI for social research, and human–machine interaction.
