Michele Barnes

Dr Michele Barnes is a social network scientist and environmental social scientist at the University of Sydney. Her research explores how relationships among people, and between people and nature, shape resilience, adaptation, and environmental governance - especially in the context of climate change with a focus on marine and coastal systems. She has led interdisciplinary research across Australia, East Africa, South America, and the Pacific, and works closely with communities and policymakers to support just and sustainable futures. Michele is passionate about making science accessible and impactful, and regularly writes and speaks on the human dimensions of environmental change.
