Prof Michael Regan is an Emeritus Professor in the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI) at the University of New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia.

He has BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees from the Australian National University in psychology and human factors engineering and more than 25 years’ experience as a transportation safety researcher - in Australia, Europe and the US. He has spent much of his career researching driver distraction and inattention, and driver interaction with automated and autonomous vehicle technologies.

Michael is the author/co-author of around 250 published research documents, 180 of them peer-reviewed, including four books – two of them on driver distraction and inattention and the other two on driver acceptance of vehicle automation, and human factors in automated, connected and intelligent vehicle design and deployment. He is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Road safety.
