Michael is currently completing his PhD in Australian history and teaching in the humanities. He is a learning adviser with the Centre for Teaching and Learning. In 2011, he won the Faculty Medal for his outstanding work in history. In 2015, Michael was the Seymour Scholar at the National Library of Australia as well as the National Archives of Australia-Australian Historical Association Postgraduate Scholar. He is involved in numerous community outreach projects for the Central Coast campus, including his latest work with Rotary International on the Model United Nations Assembly which engages with more than 15 regional high schools. In 2016, Michael was the recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Professional Staff Excellence for his contribution to the Writing Drop In program at the Ourimbah Campus. He is published in History Compass.
