• Senior Researcher, Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa, University of Oxford

I am a landscape archaeologist with a research emphasis on archaeo-topographical survey and the study of upstanding archaeological features. My work in EAMENA is focused geographically on Yemen and Palestine, as well as the collection of historic aerial photography as a tool for long-term landscape assessment. Outside of my archaeological research I have also developed research on restrictions on satellite imagery over Israel and Palestine, and the early development by British surveyors of photogrammetric topographical mapping in the MENA region. In the past I have undertaken key roles in major landscape surveys, as at Charterhouse-in-Mendip and Wallingford in the UK, and my more recent work in the southern Brazilian highlands.

My research interests include landscape development, monumentality, urbanism and the role of archaeology in informing sustainable living, in terms of subjects such as hydrological management.
