Meshia Brown is a graduate student in Educational Policy Studies - Social Justice and International Studies at the University of Alberta. As an international educator who has taught and studied across diverse settings in Asia and North America, Meshia brings a global perspective to her analysis of educational policies and systems. Her research investigates how educational policies, shaped by colonial legacies, reinforce anti-Black racism in majority-Black populations, particularly in Jamaica. She explores the impact of such policies on perceptions of the Black body and on expressions of identity and beauty. Her work aims to inform equitable policy and to advocate for systemic reform in the Jamaican education system.
