I am a sociolinguist currently working at Cardiff University. My interests include language variation and change, dialectology, language contact and language attitudes. For my PhD (University of York) I researched vowel change over time in a regional Dutch dialect.

I teach across a number of linguistic subject areas, including sociolinguistics, phonetics, stylistics, and discourse. My most recent research has been on assessment and feedback in education, and using linguistic analysis as an early tool for detecting signs of dementia.

I am originally from Melbourne, Australia, where I gained my Bachelor (Melbourne), Graduate Diploma (Melbourne), and Master (Monash) degrees, before moving to the UK in 2014.
