Melisa Blackhall

The areas in which I have developed expertise focus on agricultural and biological sciences. A central theme of my work is fire ecology and management, with a particular emphasis on forests and shrublands in northwestern Patagonia, including the wildland-urban interface. Within this field, I specialize in the study of fuels and flammability in plant species and communities, fuel distribution and load, early post-fire recovery and regeneration, post-fire germination, resprouting capacity. Additionally, within forestry science, I have expertise in forest and shrubland dynamics, livestock impact on these ecosystems, herbivory impact on early post-fire regeneration, and the introduction of exotic species following disturbances such as fire and grazing. My research also extends to restoration, biological invasions, and forest plantations impacts.
