My research interests are broad, but I am drawn to people's everyday practices and cultures, particularly in the contexts of ageing, material culture, alcohol, transitions during the life course, lived experiences of illness, and death and dying. While my research to date has been largely interdisciplinary, my perspectives are most strongly influenced by approaches drawn from the fields of anthropology, sociology, ethnology and folklore. I use qualitative methods, and am particularly interested in ethnographic research.
