In 2018 I gained my doctorate from University College London (researching crime concentration patterns in different types of facilities). I hold an LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of Derby, and an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Loughborough University. Since then I have gained a PGCert in Crime Prevention and Community Safety from UCL and a PGDip in Continuing Professional Development (Higher Education Practice) from the University of Huddersfield. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I have experience of policing as Special Constable and a Crime Analyst, prior to moving into academia. Since then I have worked as a Research Fellow at UCL, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, and Senior Lecturer and Associate Dean for Research, Scholarship and Knowledge Exchange at Liverpool Hope University, where I have been since 2023.

I have carried out research and published in the fields of crime patterns, particularly spatial concentrations, and crime prevention, but my more recent work focuses on green criminology, particularly wildlife and animal-related crime and nonhuman animal victimology.
