Mei Dong is a Professor in Economics at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. She received her PhD from Simon Fraser University in Canada.

Mei’s research interests include macroeconomics, with emphasis on monetary economics, banking and search theory.

Before moving to Australia, Mei worked at the Bank of Canada. She has published in leading international journals and has received competitive research funding from the Australian Research Council.

Mei is also actively involved in policy engagement and research leadership, including through organising the Melbourne Macro Policy Meeting, being an executive board member at the Australasian Macroeconomics Society and being on the ANU Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis's Shadow Board.
