Matthew is a Associate Professor in Sustainable Product Design Engineering.

His research largely concerns Sustainable Product Design in particular product lifetimes, User Behaviour and Road Safety, and he maintains a special interest in the automotive sector. His research is applied working with industry, councils and charities to implement, measure and effect meaningful change.

Matthew is a guest editor for the Resources, Conservation and Recycling Journal, he is a reviewer and on the Scientific Community for a number of conferences and journals in the field of design and sustainability and Matthew sits on the committee and is a track chair for the (PLATE) Product Lifetimes and the Environment conference.

Prior to undertaking his PhD Matthew was a qualified secondary school teacher and worked in the Automotive electronics sector as a Project Engineer.
