Matthew Ray is a professor of chemistry and chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He received his Ph.D. from Lehigh University where he studied surface chemistry and colloidal interactions at the Emulsion Polymers Institute. After completing his graduate work, Dr. Ray managed a research group at Thermo Fisher Scientific, leading the discovery and commercialization process of magnetic and fluorescent particle-based assay components for applications including prion disease detection and genome sequencing. In 2010, Dr. Ray joined the faculty at UW-Stout, teaching chemistry and materials science courses for engineering and science majors. Dr. Ray's research focuses on carbon fiber reinforced polymers, space debris mitigation, and lifecycle management of composite materials.
