Matthew Herder is currently the Director of the Health Justice Institute in the Schulich School of Law, and a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Herder’s research focuses on biomedical innovation policy, with a particular emphasis on intellectual property rights and the regulation of biopharmaceutical interventions. He served as a Member of the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board, Canada’s national drug price regulator, 2018-2023, became a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists in 2019, and was named a Chair in Applied Public Health by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Public Health Agency of Canada in 2022.
