Matthew Francis is Professor of Security and Resilience in the Centre for Peace and Security at Coventry University, where he co-directs its Protective Security Lab. His work covers a wide range of security threats, including protecting public officials, insider threat, protecting public spaces and the role of non-negotiable values in negotiation and international relations.
He was previously Executive Director of the Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats, based at Lancaster University, and prior to that founded RadicalisationResearch.org to make high-quality academic research on radicalisation and extremism available to a broad audience.
His past research has included radicalisation, cults and political movements, religious literacy and local faith communities.
