Dr Matthew Derry joined Aston University in December 2019 as a Lecturer in Chemistry. Prior to this he studied for his MChem degree in Chemistry with a Year in Industry at the University of York in 2012. This was followed by an industrially-funded PhD in Polymer Chemistry at the University of Sheffield, after which he continued as a Research Associate. Dr Derry is a founding member of the Aston Institute for Membrane Excellence (AIME) - a globally unique, cross-disciplinary institute spanning biology, physics and chemistry that aims to develop novel membranes for use in applications as varied as drug discovery and water purification.
