Matthew Cerilli’s academic work has focused on government ethics and accountability in Canada. At York University, he researched government ethics legislation and conflicts of interest among elected officials, earning recognition for his contributions. His scholarship has examined ethics laws, systems, and structures at both the federal and provincial levels, leading to articles on campaign ethics and the need for stronger accountability frameworks. As a graduate student at McMaster University, Matthew deepened this work, concentrating on prime ministerial centralization, ethical governance and public accountability through original research. He is now continuing his academic journey at the University of New Brunswick’s Faculty of Law, where he is building on this foundation while pursuing legal studies.
