- BBSRC AFL Fellow, University of Oxford
I am a BBSRC Anniversary Future Leader Fellow and a Somerville College Fulford Junior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.
My research is focussed on understanding the mechanisms in the human brain that underpin learning and decision-making. In particular I look at how the brain weighs the benefits of doing things against the costs, particularly when we are interacting with other people.
I use a combination of neuroscience tools, such as brain imaging (e.g.functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and brain stimulation (e.g. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) in combination with 'mathematical models' of brain function. These techniques allow me to explore basic science questions in healthy adults, as well as looking at what causes differences in decision-making between people, and also what underlies disorders of motivation and social cognition.
