Matt Tyler is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University and the University of New South Wales who has completed internationally significant research and groundbreaking program delivery related to men's violence, perpetrator focussed child sexual abuse prevention, and addressing child maltreatment.

He has a track record of translating research into innovative practice, including understanding the attitudes of Australian men and boys related to the perpetration of violence and, in collaboration with colleagues at the UNSW, the world's largest child sexual abuse perpetration study. This work has informed his leadership of Australia’s first helpline – Stop it Now! – to prevent child sexual abuse by engaging with those at-risk of offending, development of an online tool to prevent Harmful Sexual Behaviour among young people and development of deterrence messages to disrupt online child exploitation. He has also worked across hundreds of schools, sports clubs and workplaces as part of the design and delivery of programs including working with adolescent boys who have been victims of violence and abuse themselves to prevent inter-generational harm.

Trained as an economist, Matt brings almost 20 years of experience across the private, public, academic, and community sectors. He is Board Member of Sexual Assault Services Victoria, a member of UNSW's Childlight’s East Asia & Pacific Hub Board, a Menzies Foundation Board member, member of Bravehearts executive research advisory panel and was previously Mayor of Hobsons Bay City Council.
